Cape Fear Shakespeare on the Green has been among Wilmington’s most anticipated summer traditions since 1993. The annual free-to-the-public Shakespeare festival, in association with the City of Wilmington, opens June 6, and continues throughout the month of June. Playing to hundreds of residents and visitors, we offer a great family evening underneath the stars, and an unmatched spirit of community in one of Wilmington’s most beloved parks. Visitors to Historic Wilmington and North Carolina’s Cape Fear Coast can experience and enjoy free live productions of the Bard’s works at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. Located in the heart of Wilmington on the lake’s edge, the stage is surrounded by stately moss-draped cypress trees and well-manicured gardens of Greenfield Park. Audience members are welcome to arrive early and bring-your-own picnic before the show or enjoy light refreshments from our concession.

2019 Summer Season

The Cape Fear Shakespeare Youth Company celebrates is it’s 15th season performing “Shakespeare on a Midsummer Eve,” an original adaptation of some of Shakespeare’s most beloved work.

Our regular festival show “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” is a hormone-driven battle of wits and genders: Letters are misdelivered, disguises are donned, secret soliloquies are overheard by others, and a few fools to keep the humor high.

Gates open at 6:30pm and all performances are staged 8:00 pm.
